"Healing is a choice. It's not an easy one, because it takes work to turn around your habits, but keep making the choice and shifts will happen."
I've noticed that in recent years words like healing and mindfulness have become buzzwords, they have been used everywhere in numerous aspects of our lives and have sometimes come across as something trendy. However, anyone who has gone through the journey of healing knows just how difficult it could be, it is never easy!
Some people go to see therapists expecting that it would be like going to have a massage where the masseuse does all the work and they would feel awesome after only one or two hours (though I occasionally joke to my clients to consider our sessions as having "spa for the mind"). In fact, the most effective kind of therapy, in whatever form it may be in, is where the clients understand that the responsibility actually lies within themselves. The therapist works with them, guiding them through to figure out their own inner pathways as all the transformations have to be made in one's own mind. While clients might not always understand why they are feeling miserable, the important thing is - they want to make a change.
You might say - I do want to make a change, but I don't know why I just couldn't. Lots of people say they really want to stop eating junk food, some might even say they don't actually enjoy junk food that much, but they just couldn't stop. Every behaviour serves a purpose, however your intellectual mind might not realise or understand this if the behaviour is driven by the part of you that is on a subconscious level. One of the techniques is called Parts Therapy, in which you would be able to determine and evaluate what all the various parts of you are trying to say.
Here comes the end of the year again, it's the perfect opportunity to reflect on everything that has happened during 2023. If you realise there is still something you hold on to and couldn't process properly, perhaps you can consider treating yourself to a "spa for the mind" this holiday!
I hope you are feeling well both consciously and subconsciously. Have a beautiful holiday and a wonderful new year ahead!
